Food Storage

Freezer: In order to properly protect foods from freezer burn and spoilage, place food in a zip top freezer bag. Freezer bags are made of thicker plastic than sandwich bags or plastic wrap, and offer the best food protection. Supermarket meat trays are packaged in a very thin plastic wrap and should also be placed in a freezer bag before freezing.

Pantry: Storing opened food packages with clips, rubber bands or twist ties reduces the shelf life and freshness of any food product, including flour, sugar, chips, cereal. To keep foods fresh up to four times longer, place unused portions in glass jars with lids, or plastic containers with tight-fitting lids.
