Computer TimeA computer can be a window to the world and a very helpful resource to parents in many different ways. When your child is on the computer, take time to enjoy it with them. Surf the Internet together and share sites that you both are interested in. Play computer games together or just let your child show you how good he is at the games he likes. Work on computer projects, like digital photo albums, greeting cards, or other creative activities. Also, use your child's time on the computer to build you and your child's understanding of it and to strengthen your relationship with each other. While learning to be comfortable with a computer is important, it's just as meaningful to balance your child's computer time with real-life experiences. Turn off the screen, and encourage your child to enjoy a book, game, or activity which reinforces what they've learned and creates important family time. Just as a computer opens up a wonderful world for you and your child, real-life experiences help you to understand that world even better!
