Problems in EmailThere is a real problem that you will encounter in email. You will receive an authentic-looking message that instructs you to provide sensitive personal information. It’s called "phising." Individuals who "bite" are exposed to identity theft. This email I received 2 weeks ago looked very official – it even used the bank logo. If you go to a link offered in an email, check to see if there is an "s" after the HTTP in the address at the top and a lock at the bottom of the screen that indicates the web site is secure and encrypts data. Though this is no guarantee, scam artists are less likely to have encrypted forms. However, if in doubt, contact the company named in the email to just confirm. Most companies never ask customers to confirm personal information by sending an email.
