NPT (Nashville Public Television) was recently recognized with eight MidSouth Regional Emmy Awards, presented by the National Television Academy, and three national NETA Awards, given out by the National Educational Telecommunications Association (NETA). The Emmy Awards, presented for outstanding achievement in television and related services, were handed out Saturday, January 28, 2006, at the Renaissance Hotel in Nashville and the NETA Awards were presented on Thursday, January 26, 2006, at that organization’s annual conference in Houston. The NPT production, The Carter Family: An American Original, was recognized by NETA with the additional honor of its “Best of the Best” award for extraordinary or breakthrough achievement, which is presented only at the judges’ discretion and with their unanimous agreement.
